NBA news: Hornets coach says he wants Jeremy Lin and Kemba Walker to play together, compares the two to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson
As the NBA world preps for another round of ring-slamming and time-beating, Hornets coach Steve Clifford sees a new ray of hope that could change the direction of the "disappointing" group that was seen in the previous plays; the team's coach for two years noting that he sees "Linsanity" playing well with Kemba Walker.
In a recent interview with the Charlotte Observer, Clifford said he is planning to put Jeremy Lin and Walker in the court for more minutes as a tag team.
When asked if the duo will produce an effective combination, Clifford responded with confidence that the Lin-Walker coalition can be something like Golden State Warriors' popular "bromantic" partners Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
"You've got Steph on one side, so defenses have to load up there, and then you've got Klay Thompson on the other with room to cooperate. That's what Kemba can do for Jeremy and Jeremy can do for Kemba," the 54-year-old coach noted.
According to NBC Sports, Clifford still has a lot of time to do the rounds in his all new trial-and-error team, particularly on his plan to impose a Walker-Lin backcourt just like the Curry-Thompson strategy sported by the Warriors.
Kemba Walker was recorded to post 17.3 points on top of 5.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds, while the controversial "Linsanity" star whose fans continue to show support, averaged 11.2 points to go with his 4.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game with Los Angeles.
Following his controversial and tough year with the Lakers, Lin is expected to reestablish his gameplay and maybe even awaken the sleeping Linsanity, to prove that he is still the productive player his fans believe him to be.
Critics say it is yet difficult to see through the future of the team that now has seven new players, including some key rotation players, but with proper use of the players' skills and natural talents, the Hornets just might make a show in the upcoming season.
