NBA Star Blake Griffin in Rolling Stone Interview: 'I Believe in Creationism, For Sure'
Blake Griffin, superstar forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, professed a belief in Young Earth creationism in a Rolling Stone interview posted Tuesday.
When asked if he is "Team Creationism or Team Evolution," considering he was homeschooled through seventh grade, Griffin responded, "I was raised in a Christian household and went to a Christian high school, so I believe in creationism, for sure."
A follow-up question asked whether he believes the Earth is 6,000 years old, to which the NBA star replied with his trademark deadpan delivery, "I don't want to do the math, but somewhere around there."
Griffin has spoken publicly about his faith before. After he was selected as the #1 pick in the NBA draft in 2009, Griffin suffered a knee injury that sidelined him for his entire rookie season.
He put this disappointment in perspective, saying, "I was ready to go, but everything came crashing down, so to speak. But these things happen. That was God's way of just humbling me."
