NBA Trade Rumors for NBA 2016-17 Season: Iguodala to Cavaliers, Griffin to Celtics, Bosh to Raptors
The following are some of the latest trade rumors for NBA 2016-17 regular season.
1. Andre Iguodala to Cleveland Cavaliers
According to Chatt Sports Net, the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers are rumored to be in talks about a potential trade between Andre Iguodala and Iman Shumpert.
The Cavaliers are looking to do a repeat of their championship season and despite losing Timofey Mozgov and Matthew Dellavedova during the off-season, they still have most of the key original stars, most notably LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
J.R. Smith has yet to sign with the Cavaliers, although most expect him to do so eventually. Iman Shumpert has had some DUI issues which may prove a distraction to the team.
The Cavaliers might solve the Shumpert issue with a Warriors trade, getting Andre Iguodala. Both players have a similar skillset. Iguodala may be a better offensive player, while Shumpert may be more of a defender. Iguodala averaged 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game last season, while Shumpert averaged 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game last season.
2. Blake Griffin to Boston Celtics in 2017
According to Sportsrageous, the Boston Celtics will pursue a trade with Blake Griffin within the 2016-17 regular season, but if this can't push through, then they will look to sign him in the 2017 off-season as Griffin enters free agency.
Gil Alcaraz IV of Hoops Habit says, "Although Doc Rivers has made it clear Los Angeles isn't interested in parting ways, that doesn't mean Blake Griffin couldn't be persuaded to sign elsewhere when he inevitably opts out of his deal next off-season."
Boston has a lot of trade options with all the young talented guys it has in its roster. But the Los Angeles Clippers are likely to keep Griffin during this regular season because they are one of the stronger teams in the Western Conference.
3. Chris Bosh to the Toronto Raptors
While there is no official word from the Miami Heat that Chris Bosh is healthy enough to play, Bosh recently told USA Today that he is "ready to play."
Bosh adds that he is confident and ready to play in practice camp, but something that isn't in his control is the decision of the Heat doctors to clear him or not.
However, there are rumors that Chris Bosh will return but to another team, with some specifically claiming that he will return to his previous team, the Toronto Raptors. According to ESPN's Trade Checker, one valid trade between both teams involves Chris Bosh going to the Raptors and DeMarre Carroll and Patrick Patterson heading for Miami Heat.
Chris Bosh averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
