NBA Trade Rumors: Learn More About Which Players the Los Angeles Lakers May Deal in the Coming Weeks
Los Angeles Lakers believed to be 'sellers' during this trading season
The Los Angeles Lakers currently sport one of the worst records in the entire league and will likely miss out on the postseason once again. This could explain why the latest NBA trade rumors are hinting that they could deal some of their players sometime soon.
Specifically, the Lakers may be looking to trade away some of their veteran players.
In a recent report for Hoops Hype, insider Alex Kennedy talked about some of the players who could be on the move during this hectic trading season.
Talking about the Lakers, Kennedy noted that combo guard Louis Williams and wing player Nick Young could be on the move. Williams, in particular, could be dealt soon, with an unnamed general manager indicating that the Lakers have apparently offered him to other teams.
It wouldn't be all that surprising if the Lakers went ahead and dealt the aforementioned Williams and Young. Given where they are in their careers, Williams and Young don't seem like they have significant upsides left to realize and may be better fits for teams contending for the title as opposed to a lottery-bound squad such as the Lakers.
In addition to those two, the Lakers could also move Jose Calderon to a point guard-needy team looking for a stable, veteran presence who can come off the bench and contribute immediately.
Further incentivizing the Lakers to move the aforementioned players is that they have numerous young guys on the team who can still benefit from getting more time on the court.
Since the playoffs seem to be out of reach now, it may be better for the Lakers to just focus more on developing their younger players as opposed to keeping numerous veterans onboard and giving them precious minutes.
More news about the latest NBA trade rumors and what the Los Angeles Lakers may do next should be made available in the near future.
