NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks May Still Be Looking to Move Joakim Noah
Remaining years and dollars on Noah's contract may make any trade difficult to pull off
Opening night of the NBA's 2017-18 regular season is almost here, and while most teams already have their rosters set, the New York Knicks still look like they have to sort through some things.
To be more specific, the Knicks' frontcourt is still kind of a jumbled mess.
Third-year player Kristaps Porzingis is expected to get plenty of minutes and young big man Willy Hernangomez will likely be allowed to develop on the court as well. The Knicks will also likely want to see what they have in recently acquired Enes Kanter to see if he has a future with the team.

If those three players were the only big men on the team then that would probably be easy to manage for the Knicks.
Unfortunately for them, there are other big men on the roster, with those being veterans Kyle O'Quinn and Joakim Noah. With as many as five players vying for minutes at center and even power forward, it is pretty easy to see that the Knicks have a bit of a logjam.
The Knicks are cognizant of this as well.
In a recent article, ESPN's Ian Begley shared that people around the league view Noah's contract – more than $55 million spread out over three years – as one that would be incredibly difficult to move, which really hurts the Knicks since they were reportedly looking to offload the center in earlier trade discussions.
Given how poorly Noah's 2016-17 season went, it is no surprise that teams are staying as far away from his contract as possible.
There is still time for that to change, however.
If Noah can get off to a great start this year, the Knicks may still be able to convince a big man-needy team that he is worth taking a shot on, especially since he truly was an impactful force on the court not too long ago.
Noah playing better this year would really help out the Knicks, not necessarily because he may help them win games, but because that may make him more appealing to other teams via trade.
