NBA Trade Rumors: The Oklahoma City Thunder May Not Be Thinking About Dealing Paul George Now, But That Could Change
Recent report hints the Thunder have 'shown no inclination to entertain trade discussions'
This is a big season for the Oklahoma City Thunder. And it is one that can leave a lasting impact and determine whether the franchise can be a contender relatively soon or if it may be set to take a huge step backward.
Heading into its 2017-18 campaign, the Thunder added reinforcements by swinging deals for forwards Paul George and Carmelo Anthony.
Those moves were expected to help vault the Thunder back into title contention.
Thus far, however, the team finds itself in the lower half of the Western Conference playoff standings. The Thunder also seem nowhere close to being ready to topple the juggernauts of the conference like the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.
Still, players, coaches and members of the front office alike have all expressed a desire to stay on course and try to contend, which means keeping the group together.
As trade rumors have continued to swirl around George, the franchise is reportedly remaining steadfast in its commitment to try to win this season.
As seen in a recent article from Ken Berger of Bleacher Report, the Thunder have "shown no inclination to entertain trade discussions" related to George.
That is the franchise's mindset currently, but there is still a chance that could change.
If the Thunder continue to play inconsistently and show no real signs of improving into the new year, it is hard to imagine the team not doing something, especially since, as Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders pointed out, this particular franchise has a history of losing All-Stars for nothing.
In all likelihood, that is something they will want to avoid with George.
While the Thunder may not be rushing to make any move at the moment, uneven play that lasts for a few months more could force their hand.
More news about the latest NBA trade rumors should be made available in the near future.
