NBA Trades and Free Agent Tracker for 2016-17 Season: LeBron James Yet to Re-sign, Waiters May Sign with Miami
Kevin Durant finally shared his two cents about leaving OKC and joining the Golden State Warriors after everyone voiced out their opinion. Durant said, "It's the best decision for me. I can't really control how you feel."
Not much action has been going on in the free agency market this previous days, but something seems to be building up and all indications point to more major moves in the coming days. Let's look at the latest updates from other teams around the league.
1. LeBron James hasn't re-signed yet
LeBron James has yet to notify Cavaliers officials about his timeframe regarding contract re-signing.
While this may leave some fans anxious, James has expressed in an interview with Cleveland.com during their championship parade that he will return next season. Officials are also confident that James will return to Cleveland; this is what Rich Paul, James' agent, has been telling them through phone calls.
J.R. Smith hasn't re-signed yet too but his return is expected.
2. Raymond Felton getting offers from 5 teams
The veteran point guard and Dallas free agent Raymond Felton is getting offers from 5 different teams, according to a tweet by Chris Haynes, an NBA insider for Cleveland.com.
Last month, Felton has expressed his desire to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks, but that might change since the Mavs gained Seth Curry.
3. Dion Waiters interested in playing for Miami Heat
Waiters has the highest potential among all the remaining shooting guards in free agency. After last season, Waiters said he will return to OKC, but since Kevin Durant left, that may no longer be the case. The only reason Waiters wanted to return is because he wanted to be in a championship contending team, even if it means playing off the bench.
Also, the Thunder acquired Victor Oladipo, a young shooting guard who can surely limit Waiters minutes.
According to a tweet by Tim Reynolds, AP Sports writer, "Person close to Dion Waiters says he does have interest in Miami."
4. Other Updates
Javale McGee is now an unrestricted free agent after Dallas Mavericks waived him. Chris Andersen will be signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to head coach Tyronn Lue. If this pushes through, James will be reunited with his former teammate in Miami. Finally, Sacramento Kings has made Rudy Gay, Ben McLemore and Kosta Koufos available for trade, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
