Aside from the song's popularity and their other achievements, some members of the K-pop girl group also faced different controversies this year which made them more notable not only in Korea, but also in other parts of the world.

One of them is Tiffany, who has received both cheers and bawls from Korean and Japanese followers.

Girls' Generation's Tiffany

Year 2016 was a roller coaster ride for Stephanie Hwang (popularly known as Tiffany of K-pop girl group Girl's Generation by SM Entertainment). At one point, Tiffany played her solo career very well that it got her on top. One notable part is the release of her album titled "I Just Wanna Dance". With this album, she reached the third top spot for both Billboard U.S. World Albums Chart and Gaon Korean Albums Chart. She also made it to "Unnies' Slam Dunk", a widely-known show where the cast is pushed to fulfill their dreams on a tight budget.

Shortly after this, she faced difficult times. She met harsh criticisms for using the Rising Sun flag in her social media accounts (Instagram and Snapchat) while on a tour in Japan for one of their SM Entertainment shows. Her use of the flag happened a day before Korea's National Liberation Day, a celebration which commemorates Korea's freedom from Japan during World War II. The situation caused her removal from "Unnies' Slam Dunk". Her controversial posts are now deleted from her accounts, but some websites still have copies of it.

The issue has caused a lot of commotion from fans arguing about whether Tiffany still deserves the spotlight or not. Tiffany has apologized publicly twice , however, this act has also garnered criticisms from Japanese netizens.

'Better Late Than Never' in Korea

Aside from learning K-Pop, the episode also featured a lot of things about South Korea such as their technology, nightlife, food and geographical facts.

The episode, which is titled as "Seoul Brothers", is now up on NBC's website.
