'NCIS LA' season 7 spoilers; Callen goes rouge

The preceding season concluded with a massive cliff-hanger as G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) discovered that his father is indeed alive and actually has ties to the KGB.

In the upcoming season, Callen goes rouge and off the grid as the team scrambles to find him. He goes off on a secret mission presumably to gather more information on his father and leaves everyone in the dark including his partner Sam Hanna (LL Cool J).

Actor LL Cool J talked about the premiere episode and the way Sam and Callen relate to each other. "A dynamic we haven't seen before, because this is the first time that we have a situation where one partner's actions jeopardize the other partner's integrity.... It gets pretty crazy," he said.

The forthcoming season will delve into the history of Callen's father Nikita Alexander Reznikov as fans will get to know more about him and his ties to the KGB. Furthermore, the first episode will divulge a detailed description of the man and the real reason why he did not keep in touch with his son.

Meanwhile, the blossoming romance of Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) will be explored further next season, as fans will get to see more adorable moments between the two. Unfortunately, fans will not see Nell (Renée Felice Smith) and Eric's (Barrett Foa) romance continue.

Actress Pamela Reed will guest star in the new season. She will play the mother of Deeks and will be disclosing some details about her son's past. She is described as a strong female influence and it will be interesting to see how she reacts when she meets her son's girlfriend for the first time.

There will be a special crossover episode in the latest season as Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) will find himself in Los Angeles helping the team. In the meantime, fans will get to see Kensi and Deeks working out on the beach. Eric Christian Olsen shared a photo from the set on Instagram that showed Daniela running, while he falls off his bike in spectacular fashion that will surely be hilarious.

"NCIS LA" will return on Sept. 21 on CBS.
