'NCIS LA' Season 8 Spoilers News: Show Returns Next Month With Miguel Ferrer Tribute
When "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 returns next month, it will pay tribute to the late Miguel Ferrer, who passed away early this year due to cancer.
Prior to his death, the actor managed to film installments for "NCIS: LA" season 8. The recently aired episode, "Payback," marked his last appearance.
The next "NCIS: LA" season 8 episode of the season, "Old Tricks," will see his character Owen Granger officially be written out of the long-running procedural crime drama.
CBS has revealed that "NCIS: LA" season 8, episode 16 will feature Ferrer singing the Bob Dylan classic, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," with his band, the Jenerators. The episode will also end with a remembrance title card.
Ferrer joined "NCIS: LA" as a recurring character in the third and fourth seasons before he was promoted to series regular in the seasons that followed.
Before the actor passed away, he was also able to film his scenes as Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) forensics expert Albert Rosenfield in Showtime's upcoming "Twin Peaks" reboot.
"Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart," "NCIS: LA" showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said in a statement after Ferrer's passing.
"Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons [Lukas and Rafi], and his entire family. He will be greatly missed" he went on to say.
As for "NCIS: LA" season 8, episode 16, this installment will see the team going after con artists, Ginger and Edward O'Boyle, to be played by guest stars Debra Jo Rupp and Martin Mull, respectively.
The pair goes from one retirement home to another to scam the elderly out of their money, but their latest scheme, which leads to the abduction of one of the retirement home residents, tipped off the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) of their swindling.
