NCIS: New Orleans Season 3 Updates: Why Agent Brody Has To Leave Pride's Team; A New Agent Coming to Town
Zoe McLellan's departure from the series paves the way for new series regular Vanessa Ferlito's character
As any fan of NCIS: New Orleans would know by now, original cast member Zoe McLellan will not be coming back for Season 3. To those left wondering why this is so should know that it was a creative decision made by the production and creative teams of the series.
Agent Brody Has To Go
McLellan's character, Special Agent Meredith "Merri" Brody, had been compromised in the Season 2 finale. She got involved with a Homeland Security agent played by Ivan Sergei who turned out to be a misguided extremist and a traitor.
This does not only put a mark on Brody's otherwise stellar career but also has repercussions to Agent Pride's team as a whole. This scenario also will serve as an opening for the character of new series regular Vanessa Ferlito to be sent from DC to New Orleans to investigate the team.
The character of Meredith Brody was first seen on two episodes of NCIS in 2014 and became an original member in the NCIS spin-off. When McLellan was asked to audition for the role, she immediately felt that she had to play the part.
It was not her first exposure to the NCIS world however' as she played Petty Officer Jennifer Coates on JAG for four seasons. The series is from where the first NCIS series spun off.
Hello, Vanessa Ferlito
Ferlito's character is a sexy but tough FBI Special Agent who plays by the book. She is expected to bring a completely different way of getting things done. This will not only put her at odds with Pride's team but also her new town. She is said to have a mysterious past, which makes her all the more interesting.
EP Brad Kern welcomed her into the NCIS: New Orleans fold and said that they are excited that Ferlito is joining them. The cast are looking forward to how she is going to add her personal style in the cast.
Ferlito's was previously seen on CSI: NY and the ill-fated Nancy Drew pilot. Her other TV credits are The Sopranos and 24. Her debut on NCIS: New Orleans will be on its Season 3 premiere on September 20.
