'NCIS' Season 12 News: Episode 6 Recap, Episode 7 Preview

The sixth episode of "NCIS" season 12 sees a new crime of the week as Gibbs and the rest of the team investigate to find out who is behind the murder of a suburban mom.

The episode opens with a young boy and a young girl bantering while trick or treating with the boy's father. They bring her over to her home, and they hear her scream. As they rush back to her they find the young girl beside the lifeless body of her mother.

At NCIS, Ducky says that the woman died from a single gunshot wound to the back and that she died between midnight and two in the morning. Later, it is revealed that she is the wife of a Navy Commander, as the young girl tells Gibbs that there are people who are trying to kill her father.

The team investigates, and it was revealed that the girl's father was part of the team that took down Benham Parsa. The identity of the members of the team was leaked, and now they're all on a terrorist hit list. The commander, who is in off-the-grid training, was called home to be with his daughter.

Later, a former acquaintance of Tony named Agent Keates thinks that maybe the mother's death is not due to a terrorist hit. It was revealed that the woman works as a forensic psychiatrist at a place where a serial killer was incarcerated. Thinking that the killer might have gotten loose and killed her, Gibbs goes over to interrogate him. The killer then reveals that he has not hurt her, but he admits that she came to talk to him after a current patient of her started exhibiting behaviors similar to his own.

Gibbs finds out that the father was training only 12 miles away from his home, and they suspect him. They arrest him, and he surrenders without a fight. Later on, it turns out that the young girl killed her mother and her father took the fall for her. The girl got upset when she found out that her mother wanted to put her in a facility to get her some help.

In other news, "NCIS" will be on hiatus this week and will come back with a brand new episode on Nov. 11 titled "The Searchers." According to TVLine, there will be a case of charity fraud that will anger Gibbs and will be one of the primary focal points of the entire episode.

Here is the synopsis for the "The Searchers":

"The NCIS team investigate the murder of a retired master sergeant and uncover a fraudulent charity that preys upon families who are searching for missing military personnel. Meanwhile, Bishop agonizes over the results of her probation evaluation, and Tony contemplates adopting a stray cat that followed him home," the synopsis reads.

Watch the next episode of "NCIS" on Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
