'NCIS' Season 12 Spoilers: Tony and Ziva Reuniting?

"NCIS" fans have been questioning what the status of Tony and Ziva's relationship is since she's been gone. The two got together just before Ziva left NCIS for good, walking away from the organization and family she'd known, as well as the possible love of her life.

"A lot of people have approached me about the idea of not shutting the door entirely on [their staying in touch], and I'm not opposed to it," showrunner Gary Glasberg told TVLine. "But it has to be done in a way where it feels organic to the storytelling and we're not just throwing in lines about Ziva here and there."

Tony has been living the single life lately, although he appears to be depressed without Ziva around. Thankfully, he has McGee, Gibbs, Abby, and newcomer Bishop to keep him busy during those lulls and possibly set him up with another lady. However, Tony has delved into his work more seriously than ever before and is also showing more interest in his co-workers' lives.

"If Tony's in a personal relationship or there's something significant happening for him and he wondered how she would respond, then maybe we can figure out a way to do it. It's a valid issue to bring up," Glasberg added. "Every time we bring her up, for Michael (Weatherly, who plays Tony), and for Tony, it pulls him back to be in that relationship again … so it's a tricky balance."

Fans took Ziva's leaving very hard and were sad to see her portrayer, Cote de Pablo, leave the NCIS cast. Much was made about why she was leaving at the seeming height of her career, but the cast and crew, as well as de Pablo, kept mum on any reason why. By bringing in a new cast member, aka Bishop, there is now another female NCIS member, not to mention a new "Probie" for the men to bring into the fold.

"NCIS" will air Season 12, featuring the entire cast, on CBS this fall.
