'NCIS' season 13 plot news: Gibbs and other past characters return
News about season 13 of "NCIS" has revealed that a certain agent will be returning in the season to come.
The previous season of "NCIS" ended with Agent Gibbs getting shot by a group named "The Calling." Fans saw the agent lying on the street bleeding. With that, news about the premiere has revealed that he will be returning to the series.
According to TV Line, showrunner Gary Glasberg explained that the season will start off showing Gibbs recovering. Fans can expect that he will return on the team a few episodes into the season. However, it was revealed that Gibbs will be presented in a new perspective, since he had gone through some physical and psychological changes. Glasberg said, "But he [Gibbs] goes through a really traumatic experience in this that changes him ... The whole first half of the show is this emotional roller coaster ride of Gibbs' surgery and with this new character."

However, before Gibbs fully recovers, he will be seen coming in and out of consciousness after going through surgery. He will most likely experience hallucinations that will include his late colleague Mike Franks. Glasberg also shared that the upcoming season will bring back some past characters, not just through hallucinations. Although he did not share who exactly the old friend will be, he explained that a character will return in the second episode of the season to share information about Gibb's past.
Glasberg hinted that he will not be the only character from the past so fans can expect some surprises. With that, there will also be guest stars appearing in season 13. It was reported that Jon Cryer, from "Two And A Half Men" will be present in three episodes of NCIS. He will take on the role of a naval surgeon named Dr. Cryil Taft.
NCIS season 13 will premiere this Sept. 22 on CBS.
