‘Necessary' or 'misguided'? 6 reactions to House antisemitism bill
Josh Gottheimer
Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., was one of the Antisemitism Awareness Act’s 61 co-sponsors. During his remarks on the House floor in support of the bill, Gottheimer asserted that codifying IHRA’s definition of antisemitism into law would provide the Department of Education with a “clear framework” to investigate antisemitism and ensure accountability.
“Colleagues, we cannot stand idly by as protesters call for the deaths of Jews on college campuses and across the country,” the Democratic lawmaker declared.
