NeNe Leakes Speaks Out Against Phaedra Parks' Criticism of Her Parenting
NeNe Leakes is defending her parenting after some of her "Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast members spoke out about her son's past mistakes.
Leakes, the 46-year-old actress, came under scrutiny after disagreeing with her fellow cast member of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," Cynthia Bailey. While Bailey spoke about letting her 13-year-old daughter Noel date, the model became emotional when her friend Leakes disagreed with the notion.
"My son is 14-years-old and he's going into 9th grade when Noel is going into ninth grade," Leakes told her cast mates, disagreeing with Bailey's position on her daughter Noel dating. "I'm not going to help him date anybody I'm not going to be supportive of it."
The women's fellow cast member and attorney Phaedra Parks commented on Leakes' parenting during her confessional interview on the show, hinting that Leakes' 24-year-old son Bryson was arrested twice last year.
"NeNe's had issues with her oldest son therefore this is definitely a do not judge lest you be judged situation," Parks said on the show.
Leakes took offense to the comment and took to her personal blog to speak out about it.
"As Phaedra said, 'I have had problems with my son'…now, now Phaedra, you are entitled to your opinion but the facts remain, you don't know anything about my children. Have you ever met Bryson," Leakes questioned on www.neneleakesofficial.com. "If so, it couldn't have been but once. Remember you have two young boys to raise! Let's pray they don't do six years in prison! You know the apple don't fall far from the tree!"
The reality television star and actress went on to defend her parenting.
"He was 18 years old from the moment I stepped onto this show. Today he is 24 years old. So from the moment you've seen him, he was technically an adult," Leakes insited. "Yes my son experienced some growing pains, which most do. He's doing just fine today and thank you for asking!"
