Neve Campbell Joins Cast of 'Grey's Anatomy'
Actress Neve Campbell has landed a role on ABC's dramatic series "Grey's Anatomy," reports confirmed on Thursday.
Well known for her role in the "Scream" franchise's films, Campbell will portray a new character to be introduced on "Grey's."
Campbell will play one of four sisters of the show's main characters Dr. Derek Shepherd, also known as "McDreamy," portrayed by Patrick Dempsey on the show, according to Access Hollywood. "Grey's Anatomy" will not be the first time Campbell has worked with Dempsey on screen. The actors co-starred in 2000's "Scream 3."
Actresses Catelina Scorsone and Embeth Davitz have portrayed other siblings of the Dr. Derek Shepherd's. The audience is already aware that the doctor has one unseen sister, a psychiatrist named Kathleen, and that there is an unnamed and unseen fourth sister.
It remains uncertain which sister Campbell will portray, reported TV Guide.
The "Scream" star will appear on the medical drama for at least two episodes scheduled to air in December, according to TVLine.com.
On Twitter, many fans of "Grey's Anatomy" have sounded off about the latest addition to the cast.
Roberto wrote, "Neve Campbell is heading to the small screen!"
"A fellow Canadian joining the family," wrote past "Grey's" actress Caterina Scorsone. "Neve Campbell joins Grey's Anatomy."
Native to Canada, Campbell got her acting start on the 1990s sitcom "Party of Five" where she played Julia Salinger. In the series of "Scream" horror films, the actress played Sidney Prescott. She has also starred in films such as "The Craft" and "Wild Things."
Campbell's other television credits include Encore's "Titanic: Blood and Steel," "Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical," "Medium," and the now-defunct series "The Philanthropist." She also had a guest role on "The Simpsons" episode entitled "Rednecks and Broomsticks" in 2009.
The 39-year-old actress and her partner J.J. Field recently welcomed their first child, Caspian, a baby boy, in August this year.
