Crossing over from the company's iPhone and iPad lineups, the new 12-inch MacBooks are now available in rose gold color option. This is the first time Apple has offered the color variant and should satisfy those craving it.

Intel Skylake

Under the hood of the new MacBooks is Skylake, Intel's sixth-generation Core M processors. It's the first model to feature the new Skylake chips and other models are expected to come with it too, according to TechCrunch.

The new dual-core Intel Core m3 processor clocks at 1.1 GHz. with Turbo Boost up to 2.2 GHz. The new MacBook can also be configured to have a 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core m7 chip upon ordering. It's got a 1866 MHz memory and Intel HD Graphics 515 inside as well. Apple claims the latter brings 25 percent faster graphics performance. The company also claims that the lithium-polymer battery will last for up to 10 hours of wireless web browsing or up to 11 hours of iTunes movie playback. A new and faster PCIe-based flash storage is also supposed to make the new laptop faster.

New standard RAM

Apple has also decided to increase its standard RAM on all configurations to 8 GB. The new and bigger RAM on all base models should encourage more early adopters.

Price

The base model starts at $1,299, while replacing the 1.1 GHz M3 processor for the 1.2 GHz M5 chip will cost consumers $1,599. The new MacBook can be bought through Apple's website, Apple stores, or through authorized resellers.
