Beginning with the official announcement of one crayon's retirement, Crayola revealed over on Twitter that Dandelion will soon be going away, or in their words "announce his retirement early."
Reaction to the planned retirement of Dandelion has been vocal, with many crayon users lamenting the loss of this particular shade of yellow.

Some crayon fans have even called Dandelion their favorite shade of yellow and are not looking forward to seeing it disappear anytime soon.
Unfortunately, it does not appear as though the plans to phase out Dandelion will be changing anytime soon either, especially since the folks over at Crayola seem to already have a replacement lined up for the soon-to-be retired shade.
The people from Crayola shared new details about Dandelion's replacement during a recent Facebook Live session, USA Today reported.
First off, senior vice president of marketing Melanie Boulden revealed that the new Crayola Crayon color "will be part of the blue family." Boulden then added that fans may be able to play a role in the creation of this new color, as they may be able to choose the name for it.
The naming process for the new color is expected to get underway in the summer, though exactly how it will work has not been detailed just yet.
Coloring enthusiasts who want to learn more about what this color will ultimately be can do so sometime in May, according to Boulden.
As an earlier report from CNBC noted, this is not the first time that a Crayola Crayon color has been retired, with eight colors leaving back in 1990 and an additional four that went away in 2003.
