New Duggar Baby on the Way, Family Confirms
There will soon be another Duggar in the world, thanks to eldest son Josh and his wife, Anna. The family confirmed the news earlier today and will welcome their third child this summer.
"It is very exciting," Josh Duggar told People magazine. "It's fun for Michael and Mackynzie being so close in age and this baby will be, too. We feel very blessed and happy."
Anna first suspected she was pregnant when the family was still in Asia, filming a family special. She took a pregnancy test but it was negative.
"I thought for sure I was pregnant and so I was a little disappointed," she admitted. "But two weeks later I found out I was pregnant."
Right now Josh and Anna have daughter Mackynzie, 3, and son Michael, 21 months. While they have enjoyed relatively easy pregnancies, they did suffer a miscarriage in 2010, which caused a lot of grief for the young parents. However, the new baby is sure to bring some much-needed joy to the entire Duggar clan.
"With my mom's last pregnancy there are questions and the fear of every expectant parent that this could end. There is always some sort of risk with pregnancy and you never really know," Josh said.
The elder Duggars are thrilled to be grandparents for the third time and are eagerly awaiting their newest grandchild. They've been busy managing their home and family of 19 kids. The family recently took a trip to Asia, and the special episode "19 Kids and Counting: Duggars Do Asia" airs Tuesday, March 12, at 9:00 p.m. ET on TLC.
"Josh and Anna are great parents. It is neat to see their family expanding," patriarch Jim Bob told People. "I remember those days when Michelle and I went from one to three because we had Josh and then we had twins. It is a great start."
Josh and Anna both know the sex of the baby, but like with other pregnancies, they are keeping the news a secret. They're also not certain whether the new baby will share the same initials as his or her brother and sister.
"We've been throwing around name ideas and we are pretty certain we have it down to two. We will have to see," Josh explained.
