New England Patriots NFL Trade Rumors: Brandon Marshall and Patriots Have Mutual Interest
Well, it didn't take long for Brandon Marshall to find a potential suitor. Days after he was released by the New York Jets, a team already has him on their radar and things could get really interesting if he signs with them.
According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, there is mutual interest between the wide receiver and the Jet's division rivals, the New England Patriots. Last season, Marshall admitted that he was intrigued by the possibility of playing for the Patriots and he might finally get the chance to suit up for them next season.
In his farewell message after he was released by the Jets, Marshall talked about wanting to win a championship. Well, he's going to get his chance if he joins the Patriots.
"It's easy to see why the Patriots would be an attractive option for Marshall, who will turn 33 on March 23. The defending Super Bowl champions not only are coached by one of the greatest football minds in the game in Belichick but are led by a future Hall of Famer in quarterback Tom Brady. If Marshall were to be signed by the Patriots, he'd have a much better chance of earning a ring, let alone making the playoffs," Newsday's Kimberley A. Martin said in her report.
New England is the perfect destination for veterans who want to get a ring before they retire. It should be noted that the Patriots won Super Bowl LI without tight end Rob Gronkowski. The team will be stronger this season with him back in the lineup and they should be favorites once again unless something goes horribly wrong.
Meanwhile, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun said the Baltimore Ravens are also interested in Marshall, and SNY's Ralph Vacchiano believes that the New York Giants might try to sign him as well.
