New England Patriots NFL Trade Rumors: Teams Are Reportedly Preparing to Make Blockbuster Offers to Jimmy Garoppolo

New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo may not get to play much because of Tom Brady, but it looks like opposing executives are convinced that he can become a great starting quarterback if he's given the chance to start.

Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman has revealed that several National Football League (NFL) executives told him Garoppolo was going to be targeted by several teams, and these teams were reportedly ready to make huge offers for the 25-year-old quarterback.

"What those executives are telling me — three of them, two from the NFC — is they believe some team is going to make the New England Patriots an offer for Jimmy Garoppolo they cannot refuse," Freeman said on his report. "I'm not saying it will happen. I'm saying this is the belief of some around football. They think a draft shakeup is coming and that it will involve Garoppolo," he continued.

Interestingly, Freeman noted that some executives believe Garoppolo could transform their team into contenders similar to what Dak Prescott did with the Dallas Cowboys last season. In fact, he said the Patriots could probably get a first-round draft pick in exchange for their number two quarterback.

A Garoppolo trade is certainly possible. The Patriots have shown time and again they are willing to move valuable players to accumulated draft picks. If someone offers them a first-round pick, they may seriously consider the offer.

Garoppolo didn't see much action in his three seasons with the Patriots, but he impressed a lot of people when he started for the two games Brady missed last season. By studying advanced analytics, ESPN's football analytics specialist Brian Burke even said Garoppolo might be better than potential 2017 first-round draft picks Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson.

Garoppolo has already proven that he can play in the big leagues and he is learning from one of the greatest quarterback of all-time. Teams in need of a quarterback will surely give him a look, so expect Garoppolo's name to appear in a lot of trade rumors.
