New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady Suffers AC Joint Sprain in Left Shoulder

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been remarkably durable throughout his career, but he's getting sacked a lot this season and all those hits may finally be taking their toll on the 12-time Pro Bowler.

Brady missed his first practice of the season on Tuesday, and it didn't take long for reports to come out saying that he's currently dealing with an acromioclavicular (AC) joint sprain in his left shoulder. Fortunately, that's not his throwing shoulder so the injury should not affect his passing.

According to NBC Sports Boston's Mike Giardi, Brady originally hurt his shoulder in their 33–30 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 1. Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers sacked Brady twice in that game, so he probably injured his shoulder on one of those sacks.

Giardi also noted that the 40-year-old quarterback aggravated the injury in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Thursday. He was sacked three times in that game.

Brady has been sacked 16 times already in five games this season. To put that into perspective, he has only been sacked 15 times in 12 games last season. That's excluding the playoffs, of course.

The good news is that Brady is unlikely to miss any games due to the injury.

The four-time Super Bowl most valuable player has already insisted that he will be available for their matchup against the New York Jets this Sunday, and he added that he doesn't have a problem playing through the pain.

"I'll be there Sunday. Don't worry about that. I'll be there," Brady said, via ESPN. "There's a lot of bumps and bruises over the course of a year. So, I'm not concerned," he added.

Right now, the Patriots really need to find a way to protect him from getting all those hits. Who knows what will happen if he gets hit again on his left shoulder.
