New 'Galaxy O' series of smartphones.

After the alphabet-themed 'A', 'E' and 'J' series, Samsung is reportedly bringing out the next smartphones under the 'O' series.

The 'O' series consists of the SM-G550 and the SM-G600 smartphones. It is said that the SM-G550 will be named "Galaxy O5" and that the device will have a 5-inch display. The SM-G600, in the meantime, will be known as the "Galaxy O7" and rumored to have a display measuring 5.5 upto 6 inches. Rumors also say that the the "Galaxy O7" will be a phablet - a phone big enough to work as a tablet. Other than those pieces of information, not much else is known about the two phones. Consumers will have to wait for other details to come out in the open.

Samsung's smartphones have always delivered customer satisfaction and the consumer has been treated to an array of its smartphone launches every year. Despite saying that they were going to cut back on the number of smartphone models they'd release each year, the company did just the opposite. Since 2014, they've added more and more smartphone lines. In fact, some of the smartphones were launched so close to each other that people have a hard time distinguishing one Samsung smartphone from the next. And, of course, the names the company gives their products certainly aren't helping clear things up.

Hence Samsung has been trying to work out a better naming convention for their numerous launches. As of the moment, the company has about six different types of categories which it uses to organize its phones. These are what consumers know as the "series" groups. These groups each cater to a particular group of consumers. Starting last year, these groups were given single-letter names such as the 'A' or 'E' series. For example, the Galaxy A3 phone is part of the 'A' series which means it's an upper midrange device. Phones in the Galaxy S series are high-end devices which cost more.

With the upcoming 'O' series, it still remains to be seen which kind of consumers these phones are targeting and where the phones fit into the already-crowded mix of Samsung mobile devices. Hopefully, the Galaxy O series will be able to cut through the clutter and make a lasting impression on consumers.
