New iPad to Feature Split-Screen, Multi-User Login on 12-Inch Screen?
The newest line of iPads could carry new features such a split-screen view and multi-user login. Apple may just reveal the new features in its upcoming WorldWide Developers' Conference.
The company had allegedly been considering split-screens last year, but according to a Tech Times source, it may very well be preparing to launch it soon. This same source said that Apple's WWDC may be the venue to debut said feature, among other things. Apple is reportedly working on "polishing" the feature.
The split-screen view will reportedly offer more than the usual side-by-side setup. It is also said to feature 1/2, 1/3 and 2/3 views. If the user wishes to have multiple views of the same app, the new feature will allow this. One concrete example given is when a user wants to edit a zoomed-in section of a photo while at the same time having the image editor's toolbox readily accessible. This can be done using the split-screen feature.
This alleged new feature, which not only support multiple views, but also supports multitasking, is said to be part of the upcoming iPad Pro's features. According to the report's anonymous sources, after Apple introduces the split-screen feature, it will soon after reveal the upcoming release of the 12-inch iPads, otherwise known as the iPad Pro. The sources claim split-screen was made for the bigger screen size iPads.
These inside sources even went as far giving the internal codenames of these new iPads, which are reportedly called "J98" and "J99."
According to the Tech Times report, there are earlier reports backed by other sources that hint at an iPad with a bigger screen. Another report from South Korea talks about the company's plans to "upsize the iPad." Its sources claim that Apple "asked for samples of silver nano wire, which will enhance its force touch and come at a lower cost." These samples were said to "applied on large-screen iPad, which will be released next year," according to the insider.
