"I deny the allegations," said Myers soon after the story broke. "Anyone can do what they want anonymously on the Internet."

The website created by the supposed accuser claims that a photograph of a man in a pair of blue Calvin Klein underwear is Myers. The accuser also claims that Myers offered to pay him $500 when they were to meet in a Newport Beach hotel.

Myers denied the claims at a township council meeting in November and called the Internet "a murky, anonymous place."

The anonymous person claimed that he put the photograph on the Internet because the mayor reneged on promises that he had made which included giving the individual a car and gifts, according to various reports.

In the wake of the breaking allegations, Myers reportedly missed one township meeting and postponed another, concerning council members of the city that has over 23,000 residents and is just 20 miles away of Philadelphia, reported the Medford Sun.

"My work commitments will not allow me to devote the time that is needed in the months ahead," Myers said, according to the Medford Sun. "That is why, today, I am resigning from the Medford Township Council, effective immediately.

In his resignation, Myers did not mention the allegations of sexual improprieties.

Myers also worked for the technology manufacturer Lockheed Martin Corp., as a vice president. He was placed on administrative leave "indefinitely" to avoid distractions at the workplace, according to Kimberly Ramalho a spokesperson for the company’s Moorestown operations, in a statement.
