For the Mavericks, they are doing fairly well despite being touted as one of the teams that should struggle with the lack of star players in the line-up.
Dallas are being buoyed by the veteran leadership of Dirk Nowitzki, and the other players - like Deron Williams, Wesley Matthews and the rest of the Mavericks - have shown that they still have bite left in them. At the moment, they are near the top of the Southwest Division where they are currently better than other teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans have struggled despite having a budding superstar like Anthony Davis in the line-up. They lack bite in their offense and have lost to other teams that critics thought they should have beaten easily.
Ironically, the three battles between the two teams have resulted in two wins for New Orleans and only one by Dallas.
In the first clash, the Mavericks won 107-98 with Williams scoring 19 points and shot 3-of-5 from beyond the arc to lead the Mavericks. Meanwhile, Davis had 25 points, six rebounds and four assists in the loss.
When they met for the second time, the Pelicans rebounded with a 120-105 win with Ryan Anderson helping the team with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Charlie Villanueva played well despite the loss with 15 points and nine rebounds.
In their most recent clash, New Orleans won 105-98 after Davis' amazing game with 31 points and 14 rebounds.
