New Orleans Saints NFL Trade: Johnny Manziel Drawing Interest From the Saints
Everyone know that the New Orleans Saints will eventually have to look for Drew Brees' successor. The veteran quarterback is still performing at a high level right now, but he's not going to play on forever. As Brees enters the twilight of his career, an unusual name has come up as a potential replacement. And the man is not a saint by any means.
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Saints coach Sean Payton and Johnny Manziel were spotted having breakfast together during Super Bowl week last month, and the two reportedly talked about a possible return to football for the former Cleveland Browns quarterback.
Rapoport tweeted that Manziel has been keeping a low-profile as he tries to make a comeback and Payton has "taken an interest in him." He also said Payton could bring out the best in Manziel and Brees could be a perfect mentor for the controversial quarterback as well.

"This was not simply the Saints head coach taking an interest in Manziel as he tries to climb back into the league after washing out amid substance abuse and legal issues," NFL.com's Conor Orr said in his report.
"The situation seems quite fluid and will likely be followed up with some platitudes from New Orleans. Teams looking to bring in a controversial player such as Manziel ordinarily couch such explorations as customary due diligence. Whether or not this graduates beyond a meeting remains to be seen," he continued.
This actually makes sense. The Saints can really develop him into Brees' eventual successor. The problem is, controversies tend to follow him wherever he goes. But Manziel is definitely talented and he should be fine if he can stay away from trouble and just focus on football.
If Manziel is drawing interest from teams like the Saints, how come Colin Kaepernick is still unemployed? It's strange, isn't it?
