The New Orleans Saints will face off against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in the second meeting between the two teams in just three weeks. This will be a massive game in the NFC South with huge playoff implications. The teams are fighting it out for the division title and with it one of the top seeds for the playoffs. The Saints and the Panthers are tied at the top of the NFC South division with records of 10-4 but the Saints have the advantage on the tiebreaker. That means at present, New Orleans are seeded 2nd for the playoffs, and the Panthers are seeded 5th at present. However, if the Panthers can win today they will jump to the top of the NFC South and move into that coveted 2nd seed position.
These two teams met in New Orleans just two weeks ago, with the Saints coming out as clear winners in a 31-13 game. That put the Saints in clear command of the division, however, last week the Saints suffered a surprise 16-27 loss to the St Louis Rams. That, coupled with the Panthers' 30-20 win over the New York Jets last week, puts the two teams tied again, and giving the Panthers a second chance at leapfrogging the Saints at the top of the division.

If the Panthers can win today, they will simply have to defeat the Atlanta Falcons next week to win the division. Where as if the Saints win today they will clinch the division title today.
However, victory for the Saints is far from guaranteed and they have struggled badly on the road this season. In particular, their offense has been lacking significantly when they've been away from the Superdome. If they misfire again today then they could lose the division and the 2nd seed spot for the playoffs.
