New Reality Show 'Preacher Wives' Coming to TLC
TLC has announced plans to join forces with The Real Housewives of Atlanta producers True Entertainment, to bring a first-ever look into the holy lives of the "First Ladies" of Atlanta's churches.
The new reality show with the working title "Preacher Wives" is set to focus on the "outspoken ladies who work to ensure that their churches run as smooth as Southern-churned butter."
Preacher Wives will be a move away from the non-traditional religious families currently featured on TLC reality TV, such as the polygamous Brown family on Sister Wives, and the impressively large Duggars family 19 Kids & Counting. For this reason Christian viewers may be concerned about how the network will handle this first-ever spotlight on mainstream Christianity
The president of True Entertainment, Steven Weinstock. said his company is very excited to be working together with TLC to reveal the lives of such strong-willed women.
"With most praise in religious communities directed towards male preachers, we are thrilled to give these remarkable ladies the spotlight they crave and deserve," he said.
Viewers will be allowed a unique glimpse into their roles as the wives of preachers in their congregation, and also delve into how they balance this with their family and personal lives.
"Preacher Wives" joins a couple of other new reality shows currently in the works at TLC, including a new show following Southwest Airlines.
While there is currently no projected air date and no names of the featured women have been released, there is speculation that Sandra Stanley, who is married to the pastor of the most famous Atlanta megachurch, North Point Community Church, would be a big name to pick.
