New Wearable Devices: Intel MICA and Wellograph Wellness Watch
The future is all about wearable devices, and a lot of companies have already rolled out smartwatches and fitness trackers that will enable one to stay on top of emails, access basic apps, and track one's health all at a glance at one's wrist.
But so far, most wearables have proven to be bulky and don't quite effectively combine style with function. Now, a new crop of wearable devices have come up to give those who are style-conscious some aesthetically pleasing options.
Here are two of the latest wearables for the high-tech and fashion-conscious crowd:
Intel's MICA Smart Bracelet:
The MICA smart bracelet is designed by Intel in collaboration with fashion brand Opening Ceremony and Barneys New York. It will function as a standalone device and will be carried exclusively by AT&T. With the device, wearers get Gmail and Facebook notifications and text messages. The bracelet is coated with 18K gold and has a curved sapphire watch display. It will also come in two styles—black water snake skin with inlaid pearls and lapis stones, and white water snake skin with inlaid tiger's eye and obsidian stones.
The MICA will be available in early December and will cost $495.
Wellograph Wellness Watch:
If the MICA's ostentatious design is not what you're looking for, the Wellograph Wellness Watch is more sedate in appearance, but it looks good enough to wear at the office as it does during a workout. It features a sapphire crystal 1.25-inch rectangular display set into a leather band. It tracks one's steps and heart rate, and it's waterproof. Its battery life is impressive, since it can run for seven days on a single charge.
The Wellograph Wellness Watch costs $349.
