5 Bible Verses to Keep Your New Year's Resolutions
New Year's is always a special time for people to gather and celebrate the completion of one year and the beginning of another.
For countless millions, the coming new year is a time for self-improvement, in which things known as "New Year's Resolutions" are created.
Usually they center on being healthier, giving up bad habits, and what not. And alas, they oftentimes end in failure.
Fear not, O Christian, for the Bible has verses of encouragement for those seeking to use a calendar change as a time of self-improvement.
Below are verses that will encourage those trying to resolve to be different this year, verses the year before. And may God bless such earnest and sincere efforts!
1. Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
2. Galatians 5:1
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
3. Matthew 6:34
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
4. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
5. Romans 8:18
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
