New York Fashion Week Kicks Off With a Bang in Red
Fashion Week has descended upon New York City once again, bringing us the latest collections from our favorite designers for Fall 2013. This year the Heart Truth fashion show kicked off the week fighting heart disease with some of the most recognizable names in the industry, showcasing beautiful red gowns by favorite designers down the runway.
Minka Kelly, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Kris Jenner, Toni Braxton, Gabrielle Douglas, and Kelly Osbourne set the runway ablazed in the Hammerstein Ballroom, signaling that Fashion Week 2013 had officially begun.
During the week of Feb. 7-14, fashion editors, bloggers, photographers, beauty artists, writers, celebrities, socialites and self-proclaimed fashionistas will converge upon Lincoln Center as well as other venues around Manhattan to view the much anticipated showcases of over 70 designers for their Fall lines.
New to the week's events is a FIT exhibit that features 150 pairs of exotic heels borrowed from celebrity collections.
Coveted front row seats belong to the shows of top designers such as Rebecca Mikoff, Carolina Herrera, Diane Von Furstenberg, Monique Lhoullier, Zac Posen, Pamela Roland, J. Mendel, Jason Wu, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen, Kenneth Cole and several others.

Critiques of the shows have already begun to be rolled out in several publications. The Los Angeles Times said that the Tommy Hilfiger show was "An eye-catching, statement-making collection with an upbeat feel – exactly the vibe we're hoping the new Hilfiger flagship can bring to the retail mix on Robertson when it opens next week."
While Fashionologie reviews that Jason Wu "sent out an utterly sophisticated Fall 2013 collection that spoke directly to powerful, grown-up women."
The Fashion Spot reports that Nicole Miller's show was "a nod to girls who dress like boys and was almost exclusively done in black. Structured hats, fitted silhouettes and sharp hats brought Miller's inspiration to life."
And The New York Post called Rebecca Minkoff "Consistently wearable and on trend, Minkoff's line continues to deliver what her audience wants."
New York City will continue to host the fashion revivals under the tents until Feb. 14.
