New York Giants Roster News 2015: Preston Parker released

Parker has had a poor start to the season so far.

With things clearly not going the way the New York Giants wanted to, it seems that the management is not showing any leniency towards any player in the team.

And recently, it has been reported that Preston Parker has been released after poor performances in two consecutive games for the Giants.

Starting with a 0-2 record, Giants fans were optimistic to in the beginning but are now feeling unsettled.

They lost 27-26 to the Dallas Cowboys in the first week then dropped another close game to the Atlanta Falcons when they lost 24-20 at home.

A lot of eyes were looking at Parker throughout those games as he dropped five passes within the first two matches of the season.

Some called it nerves and rust, but it seems that the Giants do not want to wait for the team to lose their third straight game when they face the Washington Redskins in Thursday Night Football.

However, the move to release Parker came as a surprise after a reassuring statement by starting quarterback Eli Manning as he told fans that things were going to get better.

Talking to reporters, Manning claimed that: "He [Parker] is going to be fine. I'm going to keep throwing to him."

But for coach Tom Coughlin, he said that the reason for Parker being dropped was to bring in space for defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis.

This is to obviously address the issue of the team's defensive prowess.

However, when Coughlin was asked to elaborate more on the releasing of Parker, possibly linking the move after poor performances, the coach left a hanging statement with "I'll leave that up to you."

He went on to credit Parker by saying: "Preston Parker, for the majority of the time he was here, was a physical, tough football player who made plays when called upon," Coughlin said. "That hadn't been the case so far this year. We thank him for his service."
