New York Giants vs Detroit Lions Live Stream: Watch NFL Monday Night Football 2017 Online
NFL Monday Night Football takes place tonight with a huge game between the New York Giants and the Detroit Lions. Today's big game comes from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and has a scheduled start time of 8.30 p.m. ET. The game can be watched on TV on the ESPN network, or online through live stream (details below).
This one could go either way, but probably the pressure is on the Giants more than the Lions. Detroit are looking to move to 2-0 following their opening game win last week. However, the Giants are trying to avoid a second straight loss which would drop them to 0-2 and immediately make their season look like its moving to the brink.
This will be the 44th regular season game between these two teams, and up until now things are evenly split, with both teams taking 21 wins, with there being one tied game in the mix.
Last season though, New York managed to claim a solid 17-6 victory over the Lions. That loss sparked a dramatic fall in form for Detroit as they went on to lose their next two games as well; a collapse that ultimately resulted in them losing the NFC North title.
The Giants have a strong defense, and Detroit's run offense has seemingly struggled against much weaker opposition, so expect to see the Lions use a short pass game to eat away at first downs.
Another strategy that we are likely to see Detroit use is to get as much pressure on Eli Manning as possible. The Giants' offense can be brilliant, but at the same time when the pressure is on we have seen them fall apart. Which of these New York offenses turns up tonight may depend on how effective the Lions can disrupt them and get in Manning's face.
The Giants will know they have to do better in offense. They have put too much pressure on their defensive unit by spending too little time with the ball, and they must present a much more balanced offensive unit that keeps the opposition guessing.
Odell Beckham Jr has been out injured with a sprained ankle, and he may be back for this game, but a final decision is likely ahead of game time. No doubt, having Beckham Jr back would be a massive boost for New York, as he adds an extra dimension to everything they do in offense. He keeps defenses on the back foot, and he certainly brings something to the game that no-one else in this Giants' roster can.
The New York camp will be so desperate not to drop to 0-2, they could risk him even if they are not 100 percent certain as to his recovery, and they could calculate that his mere presence on the field could have the desired affect to lift the team and make Detroit think twice.
