New York Giants Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Suffers Fractured Left Ankle

The New York Giants' season have just turned from bad to worse.

The team just couldn't hold onto a lead in the fourth quarter of their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers this past Sunday, and once again, they let a winnable game slip through their fingers.

The Giants are still winless five games into the season, but that's the least of their worries. That's because they will have to make do without Odell Beckham Jr. for the rest of the season.

The Giants have announced that Beckham fractured his left ankle in the closing minutes of the game against the Chargers, and he will have to undergo surgery sometime this week to repair the damage. Giants head coach Ben McAdoo has also confirmed that Beckham's season is over.

"That's rough. He's our best player. He's a brother to everybody and somebody we really care about. That is kind of tough," cornerback Eli Apple said, via ESPN.

"Obviously, you never want to see any receiver go down, and it looked like he was in some pain. So I just told him I'd be thinking about him. And obviously, we don't know the severity of it, but hopefully he'll be OK," Eli Manning stated.

Manning hurt his neck as well in Sunday's loss to the Chargers after Ereck Flowers inadvertently kneed him in the head. Fortunately, the tests came back negative and he might not miss any games.

Aside from Beckham, the Giants also had to finish the game without wide receivers Dwayne Harris (broken foot), Sterling Shepard (ankle) and Brandon Marshall (ankle).

"I realized that Dwayne went down, Shep went down, Brandon went down, Odell went down. It's crazy," Justin Pugh said, via the Giants' official website.

Well, McAdoo will have to hope that Shepard and Marshall heal quickly because they have a tough schedule ahead of them.
