New York Jets, Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Trade Rumors: Jets, Bears, Steelers Interested in Mike Glennon

It's official. Mike Glennon will not be wearing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform when the new season starts. The quarterback has turned down the Buccaneers' offer of a contract extension and now it's time for the other bidders to make an offer.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport has reported that the New York Jets and the Chicago Bears have emerged as potential destinations for the quarterback, and according to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole, the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in signing Glennon as well, but as a backup.

Glennon didn't want to play behind Jameis Winston in Tampa Bay, so he obviously feels that he can be a full-time starter in another team. He does have a chance of getting the starting role with the Jets and Bears, but he still has to compete for the spot if he goes to either team.

Right now, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg are under contract for the Jets. However, they both played pretty badly last season, so Glennon can probably start if he proves that he can do better than those two.

With the Bears, Glennon will have the chance to start if they trade or release Jay Cutler. Of course, he still has to fight for the starting job with Matt Barkley. Is Barkley even a starting-caliber quarterback? The Bears will have to decide.

Lastly, the Steelers reportedly want to sign him to back up Ben Roethlisberger, so that may not sound as good as the other two possible landing spots. However, Roethlisberger will have to retire someday and Glennon may inherit the starting job.

Glennon actually has some experience as a starting quarterback. He started for the Buccaneers during the 2013 season, but he lost the role to Winston the following year. In the 18 games he started, the Buccaneers are 5–13. His win-loss record as a starter may not be that great, but he has already proven that he can be a full-time starter.
