New York Jets NFL Trade and Roster Rumors: Davis Webb Visits Jets on Tuesday

Looks like the New York Jets are seriously considering taking a quarterback in this year's draft.

The team has already brought in Texas Tech's Patrick Mahomes and North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky for pre-draft visits, and now it's Davis Webb's turn to visit the team at their Florham Park training facility.

Although it can be argued that he has as much potential as the other top five prospects, the former University of California, Berkeley quarterback is generally ranked behind Trubisky, Mahomes, Deshaun Watson and DeShone Kizer on the draft boards. Using the sixth overall pick on him seems like a stretch, but the Jets can use their 39th overall pick on him if he's still available in the second round of the draft.

Webb is projected to land in the second or third round of the draft in several mock drafts. However, his draft stock appears to be rising.

A few weeks ago, Webb said several National Football League (NFL) teams think highly of him and they might select him in the first round of the draft. Earlier this month, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora also reported that Webb was "under first-round consideration" and he "continues to generate a groundswell of support."

Furthermore, a personnel executive even told NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah that Webb might "end up being the best quarterback of this draft class," so he's clearly drawing a lot of interest from teams.

However, there are also some who believe that his skills simply don't translate well to the pro game.

"System quarterback with more than 65 percent of his attempts coming inside of 10 yards. Webb has enough raw talent to be considered a developmental prospect, but his decision-making and accuracy issues beyond 10 yards is a big red flag that might be tough to overcome in the NFL," NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein said in his scouting report.
