New York Knicks Not Interested in Trading Willy Hernangómez and Frank Ntilikina for Eric Bledsoe
Will the New York Knicks consider trading second-year center Willy Hernangómez and rookie guard Frank Ntilikina to the Phoenix Suns to acquire dynamic two-way guard Eric Bledsoe? For now, the answer has to be a resounding "no."
The Knicks may be one of the teams that have reached out to the Suns after Bledsoe went public with his desire to play elsewhere, but it appears that they are not interested in parting ways with two of their building blocks of the future.
On Sunday, Knicks president Steve Mills reiterated that Hernangómez and Ntilikina are going to be part of the team for years to come, and they will continue to nurture both players as they continue the rebuilding process.
Both players haven't been playing much since the start of the season.
Hernangómez actually earned the starting job at center last season after Joakim Noah got hurt and many were surprised to see him get demoted to third-string center at the start of the season. Well, he's not exactly thrilled with his new role with the team.
The Spanish center struggled during the preseason and he is now playing behind Enes Kanter and Kyle O'Quinn. However, he will get his chance to earn more playing time at some point this season.
"This is part of Willy's development. He's a guy who's going to be with us the next three years, and we have a lot of time to work with him, and he's going to be part of who we are," Mills said, via the New York Post.
Meanwhile, Ntilikina has been getting regular minutes off the bench since he came back from a left ankle injury and he has been playing well.
"I thought [Ntilikina] did a great job. He's not a flashy player but does the right things, plays solid defensively," Mills stated.
"We're committed to him and his development. What we're trying to do with this team, it centers around guys like Frank, [Kristaps Porzingis], draft picks moving forward. I feel really good about him," he added.
