Newlywed Wife Accused of Murdering Husband Could Face Life in Jail
A newlywed wife having second thoughts about her marriage pushed her husband off a cliff during an argument last month. Jordan Linn Graham made her first court appearance yesterday to face a charge of second-degree murder; she could face life in prison if found guilty.
Graham and her husband of eight days, Cody Lee Johnson, allegedly got into an argument while in the Glacier National Park in Montana. Johnson's employer reported him missing on July 8, after he failed to appear at work. Graham initially told investigators that she last saw her husband driving away from home.
However, not long after that, the FBI received an alleged confession from Graham, who said that she and Johnson had argued, and then went to Glacier. When Graham tried to walk away, Johnson reportedly grabbed her harm; she tried to remove his hand from her arm but, in the heat of the moment, pushed Johnson away. He fell face-first off the cliff.

Shortly after Johnson's death, Graham posted a photo from their wedding day on her Instagram account, with the caption: "Miss you so much Cody! Not a day will go by where I don't think about you!! You will live on in my heart forever! I know you're in a better place now looking down on me!! You're my angel!! Love you with all my heart and soul!! See you again one day!"
Graham was having second thoughts about the marriage and told a friend she planned to tell Johnson the night of the incident.
"Oh well, I'm about to talk to him," she texted a friend.
"I'll pray for you guys," the friend responded.
"But dead serious if u don't hear from me at all again tonight, something happened," Graham texted.
It's unknown why the couple, already in the middle of an argument, went hiking in the park. Graham's lawyer has not issued any statement about his client's actions or state of mind during the argument. She is reportedly being held on special conditions, NBC noted.
If found guilty of second-degree murder, Graham, who is 22 years old, could spend the rest of her life in prison.
