Newsboys Back with Signature Sound
Award-winning band newsboys have returned to their signature pop/rock sound with their biggest first week in album sales since their "Adoration" release in 2003.
The groups latest album "GO," released Oct. 31, has sold more than 23,246 copies its first week and is at No. 4 in sales. The album debuted at No. 51 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
Its a great time to be involved in Inpop and newsboys, said Dale Bray, president of Inpop Records, according to CMSpin. This is Inpops biggest first week sales number in its eight-year history, surpassing our previous record with Superchicks Beauty From Pain. We are very proud to have partnered with Newsboys on this project.
"GO" is being lauded by media and fans for the band's return to their familiar sound a style that many say the newsboys found the most success.
"newsboys are excited about the overwhelmingly positive response to GO, said Wes Campbell, newsboys manager.
CCM Magazine praised the best-selling band calling their new album the band's "best creative offering since 1998's 'Step Up to the Microphone.'"
"The group achieves the rare distinction of having a cross generational impact, maintaining its old school die-hards, while giving the younger crew something substantial to sink their teeth into," the music magazine added.
Christianity Today stated, "Happy to report that the fun side of the newsboys has finally resurfaced after a five-year hiatus with Go, an album titled for the band's newfound passion for worldwide ministry. They've managed to bring back most all the qualities that made them so revered for a time."
The band's latest release adds on to their five gold albums, over six million album sales, more than 20 No. 1 radio hits and several Dove Awards.
The newsboys' current single, "Wherever We Go," maintains its No. 4 position on Radio & Records' Christian Hit chart and is also currently at No. 10 on R&R's Adult Contemporary Indicator chart.
