Next-Gen Samsung Gear Smartwatch to Have a Round Screen
Those countless tech rumors saying that Samsung may release their next Gear product with a round face can now be finally validated.
The South Korean mobile giant posted a graphic teaser along with a press release on Thursday saying that registered developers can now access its Software Development Kit for their yet-to-be-announced next-gen Gear smartwatch.
Samsung said that the new wearable device will be the "7th Generation of Samsung Gear with a wrist watch type."

"Samsung has actively adapted its approach to wearable device development as the leader of the rapidly developing category," said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. "Through meaningful and progressive innovation, Samsung welcomes to developers and industry leaders to join this open collaboration effort to enrich and create unique user experiences for a new smart mobile life."
Although the company didn't clearly state the exact design of the said device, a poster which they attached to the press release gave the public the reason to believe that it is indeed coming with a round face.
"The graphic showed what appeared to be a round smartwatch screen, which would be a first for Samsung. The company's previous smartwatches have sported rectangular and curved screens, but none has been circular like Motorola's Android Wear smartwatch," CNet reported.
The device is codenamed Orbis and that it will be sold as the Gear A, GSM Arena reported. The upcoming smartwatch will come with a version that facilitates 3G connectivity and voice call support as well as wireless charging features.
