Nexus 10 2 Rumors: Tablet Canceled in Favor of Google Play Devices
The Nexus 10 2 could never see the light of day as a reliable leaker stated that Google will be abandoning the brand and putting more into its Google Play line.
The news was tweeted out by Russian blogger Elder Murtazin who has a lot of experience in the smartphone and tablet industry.
"Nexus line by Google is over in 2015 :) Yes- this line will be replaced by Play Edition," said Murtazin on Twitter. "Google won't be competitor in hardware for Samsung or any other brand. Moto is under question in that landscape. They will be reprofile."

The Nexus 10 2 was originally expected to debut at the end of 2013 following in the footsteps of the original model that was released around that same time in 2012. However, by the end of Dec. it was clear to most that Google had no intention of releasing it before 2014.
Various rumors regarding the slate included leaked specs and pictures that could have been illustrations of the device. It was originally expected to be made by Samsung and then rumors started point to ASUS as the manufacturer.
The Google Play store ran out of the original Nexus 10 in the middle of Jan. which could be an indicator that a Nexus 10 successor is on the way. However, there is still no word from Google on this.
A picture was tweeted out by @evleaks last month that shows an inventory listing for the new device. It reads "Google Asus Nexus 10," which further points to ASUS being the maker of this product.
This is one of a few recent signs that have pointed to an ASUS Nexus 10. The device also appeared in the inventory of a British retailer and was priced at £350 for the 16GB version. If this price is legitimate, the new Nexus 10 would most likely retail for $399 in the states which is what the previous model sold for when it launched in 2012.
