Nexus 4 vs. iPhone 5: Is the Android Device Worth the Extra Money?
The LG Nexus 4 vs. the iPhone 5 pits the premier Android device of the day against Apple's best.
Both handsets are extremely impressive in their own right, and both are hot selling items this Christmas and other holiday shopping season, but for users unfamiliar with either platform, which one makes the better gift?
The Nexus 4 has some obvious advantages over the new iPhone since it is a slightly newer device based off of a looser platform. Aside from the fact that LG made a great phone, the Nexus 4 packs a bigger display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. The iPhone 5 has a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels. However, the screen is larger on the Nexus 7 at 4.7 inches, while the display on the iPhone is 4-inches.

The Nexus 4 comes unlocked automatically as customers can swap out SIM cards on U.S. carriers such as T-Mobile and AT&T. The iPhone 5 must be unlocked or purchased that way, which costs $649.99 for the 16GB model.
Other advantages for the Nexus 4 over the iPhone 5 include wireless charging and NFC (near-field-communications) capabilities.
The iPhone 5 has features similar to what NFC can do such as its Passbook app, but it is limited since it relies on barcodes generated through apps. Apple is working on its own unique form of wireless charging at the moment, so it is nowhere to be found on the iPhone 5.
The 16GB iPhone 5 is a lot cheaper than the 16GB Nexus 4 at $199 as opposed to $349 which is a good advantage for Apple over the Android device. And loyal Apple fans will naturally gravitate towards the iPhone.
Both devices are impressive and run smooth, however, this may be yet another battle that comes down to personal preference.
