Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 to Launch in Many New Countries
The Nexus 5 smartphone and Nexus 7 2013 tablet will be available in a list of new countries later this year.
The Google flagship smartphone is expected to hit Austria, Belgium, Portugal and Sweden very soon. This will make it available in about 20 countries. The Nexus 7 will hit Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden. This will bring the tablet's availability to 20 countries matching it up to the Nexus 5. But it this will be for the Wi-Fi only version as the LTE model will stay on sale in just 12 countries.
Google launched the Nexus 5 at the end of last year. Specifications on the device include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor running at up to 2.3GHz, a 4.96-inch LCD 1080p display, 2GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 16 or 32GB internal memory, a 2300 mAh battery and an 8-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization. It is also one of the first devices to run Google's latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
The device is the successor to the wildly popular Nexus 4 and could be the last smartphone of its kind as Google plans to shift directions this year by focusing on its Google Play models of other companies' flagships and discontinuing its own line of handsets. The company also recently launched a red version of the handset in its online store.
The Nexus 7 (2013) was released shortly before the summer of last year and introduced Android 4.3 JellyBean to the market. It features impressive specs including a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 HD display, 2GB RAM, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 16/32GB of internal storage, built-in wireless charging, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
The tablet also introduced Android 4.3, JellyBean which was unveiled alongside the device earlier this year. The display on the Nexus 7 is 1080p which makes it the first Full HD 7-inch slate. The device's virtual sound technology is also quite impressive, as it gives users a 5.1 surround sound experience by using headphones or build-in speakers.
