Nexus 5 Release Date Set for October, Specs to be Similar to LG G2
The Nexus 5 release date will be sometime in Oct. and it will feature similar specs to the recently released LG G2.
The news originated from a report in South Korean media. The outlet claims the device will be priced around the same amount as its predecessor. This means it will retail somewhere around $299 and will come automatically unlocked.
In order to make this a reality, there will have to be some changes made to the LG G2 to make the device more affordable in Nexus form.
The Nexus 5 is expected to arrive sometime around Oct. and will be one of the first devices to run Android 5.0, JellyBean.
The publication also confirmed the specs for the handset that will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 10-megapixel camera and a 1080p display. It is unclear at this time whether it will feature a 5-inch display or not. The button layout could also end up being different on the Nexus 5.
However, this is all just a rumor at the moment. Another story surfaced last week stating that Motorola will be the maker of the next-gen Nexus handset.
The new device will be a brand new Nexus model and not a pure Android version of the Moto X, according to a report from Taylor Wimberly. He also stated that the release date for the device will fall somewhere in Q4 2013. Wimberly revealed this information through a Google+ post.
The conflicting rumors leave many things up in the air concerning the Nexus 4 successor. Wimberly appears to be a more reliable source, but an LG made Nexus model just sounds so much more promising as the company did a fantastic job with the Nexus 4.
