Nexus 5 Rumors: Specs to Feature Same 13MP Camera as LG G2
The upcoming Nexus 5 smartphone could feature the same 13-megapixel camera as the LG G2.
There have already been several regulatory filings that support this assumption. It would basically be following in the footsteps of its predecessor the Nexus 4 as that device came with the same camera as the company's 2012 flagship, the LG Optimus G.
Android Authority compared the camera modules for the LG G2 to the device that has shown up in the recent FCC docs that is said to be the Nexus 5, and they appear to be strikingly similar.
The two look identical to one another, however; that still does not mean that the Nexus 5 will have the exact same shooter as the LG G2.
The G2's 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization would greatly help the company to sell the new Nexus model.
Chances of the Nexus 5 being made by LG have greatly improved as Motorola was also in the running for manufacturing it at one point in time.
A newly discovered regulatory filing revealed that the device with the codename LG D820 is not a CDMA version of the LG G2.
This relates to a story from last week that involved a device with the codename LG D820 that popped up in an FCC filing. Many enthusiasts believed this could be the next-generation Nexus since its hardware was very close to that of the G2, the smartphone it is expected to be based on. This new report reveals that it will not be a G2, which means that it is most likely be some kind of Nexus device.
@evleaks tweeted out on Monday that the LG D820 is actually a CDMA variant of the LG G2 and not a Nexus, but today's report proves they were wrong. One of the main criticisms with the assumption at the time was that the D820's dimensions were quite different from the LG G2's.
@evleaks event went as far as to retract the tweet. "Happy to say it looks like I was wrong about the LG D820/D821."
