Nexus 6 Rumors: New Smartphone Canceled
The Nexus 6 might never see the light of day as the Android Silver program will be replacing the line completely.
Reliable leaker @evleaks took to Twitter to announce what it believes is the official end of the Nexus line earlier this month.
"There is no Nexus 6. Farewell, Nexus," wrote the user. "Don't worry, there's a silver lining to this cloud."

Based on the statement, it seems that Android Silver will become the new standard in pure Android and will be the alternative to third-party software integration.
Google is currently working to create the Android Silver program, which involves manufacturers and wireless carriers getting paid to produce and sell high-end devices that closely adhere to the company's specifications. This new deal will replace the existence of the Nexus smartphone line and usher in a new era of Android.
The Silver program will have certain restrictions including the limiting the number of non-Google apps that can come pre-installed on devices that fall under this category.
The Nexus tablet line might face a similar fate as it was rumored to be replaced the Google Play Edition slates.
Other rumors say that Google and HTC are currently working on a Nexus 8 model that will replace the Nexus 10 and Nexus 7.
A previous Digitimes report states that Google will release a slate with an 8-inch display instead of the rumored 8.9-inch iPad mini competitor. HTC will create this tablet that will be known officially as the Nexus 8.
The publication also claims that Google will be "less aggressive" with its tablet strategy for this new Nexus model. The company reportedly feels that it has already accomplished its goal of boosting Android's tablet market penetration and could use Google Play Editions to grow its market share instead of the Nexus line.
