Nexus 7 2 Problems: Device Experiences Issues With GPS

Nexus 7 2 owners are experiencing problems with the device's GPS capabilities.

They are reporting that the tablet is having problems securing or maintaining a GPS connection with makes using navigation on the device a hassle.

Users have taken to forums such as Reddit, XDA and Google's Product Forums to express their disdain with the device. The GPS apparently works for a few minutes and then fails to lock in again.

Not all users are having this problem with the Nexus 7. A temporary fix for the loss of connection would be to reboot it. Uninstalling updates and changing to factory settings could also help. However, no solution works in every single case.

If the problem is software related it could be fixed with an update, but a hardware issue could really hurt the tablet and Asus.

The new Nexus 7 was unveiled at a Google press event last month. The tablet is simply branded as the new Nexus 7.The successor is a bit more powerful than the original and is reasonably priced at $229.

The Nexus 7 features a 7.62mm thick frame, a 7-inch LCD IPS display with 1920 x 1200 resolution at 323ppi, a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Adreno 320 graphics, 2GB RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.2-megapixel front shooter, dual stereo speakers, Bluetooth 4.0, and 4G LTE connectivity.

The tablet also introduced Google's latest OS Android 4.3, JellyBean which was also unveiled during the event. The display on the Nexus 7 is 1080p which makes it the first Full HD 7-inch slate. The device's virtual sound technology is also expected to be quite impressive, as it gives you a 5.1 surround sound experience by using headphones or build-in speakers.
