Nexus 7 2012 Price Drops Down to $119 on Groupon, Nexus 7 2013 Drops to $179

The Nexus 7 2012 model price dropped to just $119 for those purchasing the device through Groupon.

This is basically a 40 percent discount off of last year's model and it is currently available through Groupon Goods for three days while supplies last. 900 units have already been sold, so those looking to purchase the tablet at this discount price should act fast.

Staples is also still running its special promotion slashing the price on all tablets by $50, which will make this year's Nexus 7 just $179. However, today is the last day for that sale.

The original Nexus 7 launched in 2012 and comes with a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution at 216ppi, a 1.2 megapixel front camera, a quad-core 1300 MHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 1GB RAM, Android 4.1, 3G connectivity, NFC, and Bluetooth 3.0. It comes in two memory capacities including 16GB and 32GB versions.

Google is also offering the Nexus 7 2013 model with a $25 gift card for the interactive market.

Google will run this new promotion "for a limited period" that will also give buyers of the device free shipping for any version of the popular tablet including Wi-Fi and cellular models. This promo is called the "holiday special" so it could end up continuing to the end of the year.

Once the Nexus 7 ships, buyers will receive an email with a code that can be redeemed in the Play Store for credit. The $25 can be used for various media including apps, movies, TV shows, music, books, or magazines. However, it cannot be used for hardware.

The Nexus 7 (2013) was released shortly before the summer of this year and introduced Android 4.3 JellyBean to the market. It features impressive specs including a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 HD display, 2GB RAM, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 16/32GB of internal storage, built-in wireless charging, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
